THE DAY THE MUSIC DIED

Let us not forget this day in 1959 when Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and "The Big Bopper" perished when their plane crashed near Clear Lake, Iowa. Where would we be today if there was no Buddy Holly? and come on, everyone knows that Oh Donna is one of the greatest slow songs ever, not to mention La Bamba!

Every Year Baylor has SING and we always go with Jamie's folks. Every year Jamie's dad Jim always always says, "Someone should do a SING act about Buddy Holly" and he goes on to tell us about how great Buddy Holly was and how badly someone needs to make a SING act. He also says, "they would win!" It is always funny because we know it is coming but deep down we know its true. If someone really did a SING act about Buddy Holly they really might win... I mean come on...how great is Buddy Holly? The Fender Stratocaster has never looked as cool as it does around Buddy Holly's neck. One of the first guitar solos I ever learned was "that will be the day" taught to me by my father. I can still remember every trip our family ever took when I was a kid. We would listen to the soundtrack to American Graffiti. The album had that song along with "Maybe Baby" ! We would sing outloud and proud to be fans. Buddy's band was called "the Crickets" I have always wondered who came first, "the Beatles" or "the Crickets"? Anyone know.... So take a minute and reflect on these three great rock and roll legends and remember the beautiful sounds they brought to our ears.

Movie Stars...

Movie stars may be pushing it, ok that is a total overstatement...however, jamie and I, along with Pete and Jamie Coulter are starring in the new Baylor recruitment video. That's right, we were hired as actors to pose as Baylor students. Well, we didn't really get hired, and we are not Baylor students, but we were... Here's the story: the Coulter's were in town for Parents weekend last fall. Every year Baylor has a dessert party over Parents weekend and they serve the best FREE pie. So normally we go with Jamie's folks and brother, because he is still a student and so we get free pie... but this year they were not in town, but the Coulter's were so we thought, FREE PIE!!! When we get to the place our friend Scott Coones, who now lives in California...was filming stuff for Baylor. Goofing around, we thought we would be in the video. I really didn't think they would use any of the footage of us in the video. I mean come on, we are old. We don't look like Baylor students? Well, enough talking about it, check it out for yourselves. It is exactly 2 mins. into the video. enjoy! click here to view video
