HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIS!!!!

My sister turns 30 today! She is the best sister one could ever ask for, and then some. I wish that I had a picture to show you of her doing an impression of the cowardly lion from the Wizard of Oz but I had to settle for this picture of Jamie when she was probably 4? She was a very healthy child (look at those cheeks). Jamie, I hope you have a great day and we love you a lot! Happy Birthday from me and Jamie(#2) !!

Global AIDS Funding Hangs In The Balance- Please Call Now!

The U.S. Senate is right now considering funding to help fight the crisis of AIDS that is killing thousands of Africans every day. Your Senators need to hear from YOU to make sure this critical funding is approved and put to work saving lives in Africa.

Here’s what you can do:
CALL
DATA has set up a special toll free number 1-877-HOPE-USA (1-877-467-3872) – which will connect you directly to your Senator. When you call, tell your Senator to vote FOR the DeWine Amendment for $289 million in funding for the Global AIDS Act.

Background-
On Friday, Sen. Mike DeWine (R-OH) introduced an amendment to the Foreign Operations Appropriations Bill to increase funding for global AIDS initiatives by $289 million. This would bring the total US commitment for fiscal year 2004 up to $2.4 billion. This amendment represents major progress toward full funding of President Bush’s 5 year $15 billion AIDS initiative, and is supported by the leadership of both parties. However, we need 60 Senators to vote for this amendment in order for it to pass.

The Senate will be voting on this amendment today(ThursdayOct. 30th), so they need to hear from you NOW!

MY TRIBUTE

Just wanted to take some time and pay tribute to the greatest car invented in the last 10 years, The HONDA ELEMENT. For all of you who doubt the coolness of this vehicle, you need to go test drive one, from the outside they are a giant box on wheels, but from the inside they are pure Heaven. Who hasn't wanted to take a hose and wash out the inside of their car? The Element comes loaded with a 7 speaker sound system that is amazing, it even has an aux jack so you could plug in your ipod. Someday i will own one of these amazing Elements, but until then... i just look at the picture! cheers

Fair Trade Victory!

You can read about this on the Make Fair Trade Website, but this is a great article that was emailed to me from a friend. It is pretty cool to see how the actions we take can make a difference!

She was a sk8r girl!

So we decide it would be fun to skateboard around the church the other night. We opened the doors and timed each other seeing how fast we could go around. Thursday night Dave set the fastest time with an unbelievable time of 23.76 seconds. It was super fast. The girls decided to compete as well and Toni was leading with a time of 37 seconds. So after we did this for the better part of 2 hours straight, we decided to head over to the new Baylor parking garage. This thing is so fun and i have talked about it several times in the blog. The thing i forgot was that some of these folks had only been skating for 2hours now and probably had no business going down the parking garage. Toni jumped on the board and was heading down, as you can see from this picture, the concrete won. She fractured her arm. I felt really bad, i mean, things were great at the church, we didn't have to go to the parking garage... but no, we had to take it to the next level. So to Toni, "sorry you broke your arm, hope you get well real soon!" As far as the time trials go... we are still skating the church and the new record is held by Matt with a time of 22.56 seconds.
