Let the beard begin!

Its official, I have shaved the goatee which has decorated my chin for the better part of the last 5 years of my life. I decided that I wanted to grow myself a beard. You know, a winter beard, a nice big ole ugly beard. I thought it would look really nice with my trucker hats. I promise to include some pictures along the way to show my progress.

Now on to more important things, First I want to congratulate the Chicago Cubs on a great season. I hate baseball, but I love the cubs (go figure?). It was really fun watching them try to make it to the world series, so close. Second, Jamie Kornikova beat me in tennis again. This time it wasn't as bad. I need to learn how to serve, any pointers in the comment section would be greatly appreciated. Finally, time for the MUSIC OF THE DAY !! The music for today is none other than WILCO and the Album is last years amazing Yankee Hotel Foxtrot . They have this amazing way of taking such a simple song and dorking around with it until it is total randomness and confusing, but yet it seems all make since? Strangely, it is very relaxing. I think it brings you into a state of unrest just enough to allow you to get uncomfortable, then it pulls you back down with songs like "Pour Places" . This album was hailed as one of the greats last year by all the magazines. Check it out. cheers

The Story of Our Life!

So Jamie and I spent a good deal of our weekend in Austin. Thursday we went to see the David Crowder Band play. They are apart of the Passion Conference Sacred Revolution tour. Not only was it great to see Dave and the guys play, we went with a group from UBC(our media team) so they could learn about how to improve UBC's media related things. The best part of the whole night was Louie Giglio's talk. I have heard Louie talk abunch of times, but he spoke on evangelism and basically said, "go have a relationship with someone, don't just tell them they are wrong, go be the light in their life." It was very encouraging for me because I know how many Christians will be hearing this message from Louie over the next few months.

So Friday, jamie gets her hair done by the guy who she loves! It looks great and she is so happy, yea! We went shopping and one of our favorite stores in Austin is going out of business. Everything in their store was 50% off. This store sells really cool modern furniture and accessories. We found two lamps and some vases and saved so much money it was unbelievable. We drive home and set the new purchases in the living room! We hate it! The lamp we bought we don't like because it is too big for our apartment, and this is the story of our life! We think we found something great and it turns into this whole thing. So the next morning(Saturday) we call the store and ask if we can return the stuff. The lady on the phone says yes, so we get in the car and drive to Austin. We get there and the guy at the register is like, "we can't return this stuff" "who told you that you could return it?" We told him about the phone call and the lady stuck her head around the corner and said, "I told them they could" Whew, was that close. The guy returned the stuff and we were in the clear. He was cussing the whole time he was returning the stuff. He wasn't happy. When we finished with the returns, he immediately went and made these huge signs that said, "ALL SALES FINAL!" and posted them all over the store. So we got lucky.

We drove back to Waco and decided to go play some tennis. Jamie kicked my butt. The first set was 6-0. So I was a little frustrated and decided that I had better start playing. I was up on her 4-0. Then 5-1, then 5-2, 5-3,5-4,5-5,5-6, and finally she won 7-5. So props to Jamie Kornikova for kicking my butt!

Music of the Day, today the song is American Girl by Tom Petty and the heartbreakers! That song is one of the greatest songs ever.
